yesyesyeysesy i totally agree. I was super invested with the side characters whom had so much potential only for them as decoration for the mc. What the hell happened to his highschool bully? The dad’s revenge? And the blue haired girl and that lighning Busan guy where did they all go? They all wouldve been great pivotal points for the mc rip they all got scrapped and thrown away. Introducing new and op characters for his character growth where atp just dont have any plot anymore
All the arcs right after that competition thing was just repetition of him fighting his ass off, “oh no i cant do anything else apart from (i forgot his main skill)!”, and winning bc of his op superpower. Everything is just rinse and repeat.
Even after finishing 50 chapters i dont even remember what the hell happened. Nothing is just interesting, just boring. And for someone who’s actual age is *35*, he lacks so much maturity, just power hungry and in that aspect we dont even know what his true goal is? Why hes driven to gain so much power? (Unless if he stated it but i said before i really cant remember anything).(〜￣△￣)〜
My comment is purely my opinion and was not intended to change anyones mindset deliberately. I'm just whining.
I'm still at chapter 26, and i plan to stop there.
It was great at first, chapter one greatly hooked me. His struggles was clearly depicted that made me root for his upcoming overwhelming change. The first part of the exam? Wonderful, i loved the fight between the mc and the thunder child, it was witty and a smart move. But slowly but surely i started feeling uncomfortable. Side characters have great potential but regretfully they are not properly utilized. I also can't bear to read and comprehend the bland and dull dialogues that seems to be deliberately done just so the mc can have a spotlight of being powerful and know it all. It feels like everything was all thrown out together without making true connection or meaningful relations. Everything feels too shalow, including the personality of everyone except the mc and his uncle and aunt.
Things i personally find lacking and disappointing>
• the guild leaders? Why are they threatening a minor? A highschooler? Why can't they take a no for an answer?
-the guild leaders are supposedly individual with high intelect and mature perspective for they are veterans (maybe for the plot?) sure, but why everyone seems to be similar with each other to act out almost immediately without thinking for themselves? It was truly frustrating that the MC's conversation with the guild leaders are too simple. When i was reading it i was like "that's it?"
•there are no other character besides the mc who have basic common sense (his uncle and aunt though are an exception)
-the side characters, ghad it makes me question that is it really that hard to imagine a proper conversation? With sense in it? *Sigh*
•plot wise
-welp as i was saying, i was definitely hooked. The kings power? Dude i have a theory that the being who gave him his powers is probably wanting to die or wanted to fight a decent opponent so he gave out his powers. Or the "key" to awaken the king that might be bound somewhere, can't get out. Either his an enemy or an ally, we are yet to know but i think for a good plot twist is that he's an enemy. Pretending to grant the mc an op powers but in reality he is being used to open the gates of hell that will ruin the whole world, and the mc will feel the saying that "with great power comes with great responsibility and consequences" like damn that would be really good

That's why I'm writing this long ass whining of mine because i feel heartbroken that it could have been really great but.....*sighs*
But maybe theres more to it if i let it marinate.... I'll wait till some news somewhere says this changed hopefully.
Everything in this MANWHA is valid, like the OP mc, easily obtained powers or goals, respect and contempt from others, mc rejecting the guilds power and solo adventure..... It's valid but not properly developed and supported. I freaking love the art though, truly a masterpiece.
