Like, I get it’s a bit of a mindfuck that your husband wants someone other than you. And it’s a man. And your brother. Ok, I get that. But the absolutely diabolical way he cornered your baby brother and hurt him……I can’t imagine being mad. Embarrassed, sure. But he was begging him to stop. He looked so miserable
U're right, but I think everybody's at fault to a certain degree here, no? Seth isn't an innocent helpless god. He's also done something unforgiveable to Isis and their followers, and the whole of egyptian women and his son for hundreds of years. (I read this a long time ago, so I can't remember verbatim) but I think he banished Isis with her kid,
Oops accidentally posted. What I meant was that he's not a helpless precious cinnamon roll baby who deserves all the love and compassion in the world. Like bcs of him, innocent infants were murdered at birth, women were raped and ensalved by the caravan, he neglected his own son and wife to escape what happened (which is understandable), and he turned away when Isis was suffering, destroyed all her temples(?), killed her followers etc and governed egypt with cruelty.
So in the end, both Isis and Seth have made mistakes regarding what happened back then. They could've handled it better, but hey! They're gods with human emotions and they're both atoning for what they did and are slowly making amends with each other, no? And that's nice to read!
I think that’s why I love this story so much. No, none of them are innocent. At all. The original fall/sin that broke everything, was Osiris’ obsession with Seth. That obsession led him to steal his brother’s ability to have children, trick Nephtys, “kill” Anubis, rape his brother, kill himself, and leave behind Horus. He literally jump started this whole thing but his reputation remains unchanged and he still has all that great power to cause suffering. And despite the massive amount of damage it’s caused, he’s STILL after his brother.
Seth did terrible things in response to his situation. It’s like the ultimate PTSD. Did he deserve punishment, absolutely. Does he deserve everything that’s currently happening to him. Sadly, yes. But without taking into consideration what LED to his actions, it comes off as unbalanced. Seth deserves to suffer. Osiris does too. And Isis, for turning her back and hating her brother out of an unfounded jealousy, deserved to suffer as well.
:)
It goes back to motivation for me.
Seth became evil due to trauma. His evil deeds are rooted in the desperate need to gain back the power he lost after his brother backed him into a corner. To create a world in which he can protect himself from Osiris.
Isis witnessed her brother’s rape. She listened to him suffer. She heard Osiris blackmail him. Instead of coming to his aid, she abandoned him to the situation. Then she “resurrected” her asshole husband and fled because she was pregnant and feared for the child. When given the opportunity to expose her husband at the trial, she refused to do so, pushing for Seth to be destroyed so Osiris couldn’t have him, even in death.
Isis’ motivation is shit. I get she’s traumatized, but what I can’t get behind is the jealously and hate she feels for a VICTIM. Seth did not ask for, or seek to be, the object of Osiris’ obsession.
So read this whole thing in a few hours and my biggest issue is
Why in the world did Isis treat her fucking brother that way? Like she literally heard HER husband back him into a corner, threaten a child that all of you love, just to get Seth all to himself. She literally witnessed it. And that was a rough scene to read, she LISTENED to her brother beg him to stop and she still treated him like the villain?
I’m having the hardest time getting over Seth’s constant rape and abuse. I get the dude deserves punishment but jeeezzzzzz the one who broke him is running around free!
