What I rly like abt this aside from the actually smart MC is that, ML is actually a rly decent green flag if he wasn't being brainwashed his whole life, and even being able to fight the restrictions and the rules of his world by himself even tho he's still under it, bcs alot of MLs out there especially with tropes similar to this (redemption, regret, angst) most of the time the problem is actually their lack of communication and observation skills towards the female lead, and some are actually just a bunch of manipulative dung, and so he's actually one of the neatest written male leads out there if we rly think abt it

Basically what I'm saying is he may have hurt her in the beginning but we can understand why it may have been unintentional and not of his own volition while others have intentionally hurt the female or have not been thoughtful enough of the female's circumstances and that's why their actual romantic chemistry is much more satisfying to watch than others with redemption tropes

Yeah. And even his actual personality is different from the brainwashed one. He's much more pleasant when he's openly loving to his wife

They really cut more from novel. In the novel there are parts on Killian's POV about doubting his identity, his surrounding and his feelings for Edith. Nevertheless his a well written ML who analyze the situation and the people around them.
