Eh, ugliness is a subjective term. there are so many BL mangas i find hideous so I wont read, and yet people do for whatever reason. (take Okane ga nai for example, anything by Kirishima Tamaki, Minase Masara) So in answer to your question, I guess it would be a no.

I don't know the 2 you mentioned, VF is the only yaoi I've read. I know the title, and Okane ga nai is one of the most hideous things I've ever seen. The creator should be smited.

Genuine question: Do you hate asami/aki? if so, why do you still read it?
(to be honest, no harm intended. i personally don't mind if you like it or not)

The characters or the pairing?

I would like this story even if the entire main cast were girls: Asami as the dominant red haired girl with big boobs and a riding crop, Fei as the dark lady, and Aki as the innocent blondie with a golden heart.

I would like the main story with girls too--but my imaginary girls have Asami looking like a tall Asian Xena and Aki like a short Asian Gabriele, and make Fei like Akemi from the series finale (the ex girlfriend Xena had left behind before meeting Gabi).

I think you have the 'Amazon' girl type in your mind, that's nice. I prefer the more 'feline' ones, the fatal or/and darker types. ^^

The plot is different, so it's hard to get a three on screen looking feisty together.

I know--we have different taste in women. :) I tend like them more athletic (though not in the team sports sense--more in the kick ass sense). You like your femme fatales like smoky noir bad girls. At least we'd never fight over the same girl.

Omg! I loved that series when I was young, I think I watched every episode of it.

I own the series on DVD. :) They have been talking about doing a reboot for two years now, but lately they have not said anything. Last I heard, they were giving it to that guy from The 100 who likes the dead lesbian trope for creating drama. I think they should cut the male show runners and get that one chick from Supergirl or the women who made the Carmilla Youtube series to do it--but they may not even do the male vision inspired version of the reboot, so....

But if you liked Xena, search YouTube for Carmilla. It's another show where the female characters are much like Asami and Aki (but less rapey).

Yeah, I heard about that too. I was so excited at first but when I heard, they were giving it to that guy I though I'd rather stick to the original. Xena was my hero as a kid. Whenever someone asked what do you want to be in future I'd say, Xena. :)
