Why are people acting shocked by the contents… don’t we all know what yandere means?

It's because people are stupid. The amount of people that cry about a yandere being a yandere and trying to be on some moral high ground is annoying. Doesn't stop them from reading the story, like turn of your brain and enjoy the dark romance.
