Well since they have children and that they most likely have a long lifespan (they look mixed but it was written as if they were fully dragon so maybe they’re immortal too?) he might have reconsidered!
Finding his love again, life after life in one thing (pretty romantic as a story but sad if taken seriously) but leaving your children behind is really something else. Not the same emotion here. I can imagine moving on from loving someone but leaving your children to let them see you live another life is very cruel isn’t it ?

the palace's peach didn't make him immortal, only pregnant?
i’m not sure if the palace peach had that ability.. so i’m assuming it only made him preggy
Pretty sure it didn't: they had a few chapters about their discussion of if he accepts immortality: the gods said it must be a choice he can't be forced to have it he must want it. He said no and explained why I think. But all that was, if I remember well, BEFORE he had the kids so my theory still stands ;)
