ME ME ME I'VE READ KOD!! OMG IT'S SO GOOD?? it's horror fantasy?? It's about people who got in to the 'door', where they have to survive to got out from that door, if they die inside the door, they also died irl. There are 12 doors for each person to survive to finally 'finish' the game. Everytime they finished a door, their health improved or their life got prolonged cause they are ((dying)) people, their death is 'close' and the door given them more time to live.
The novel is about Lin Qiushi, a gamer who got into the door, inside the door he met Ruan Baijie. Ruan baijie turns out to be a guy who crossdress inside the door and a boss from a famous organization and invited him to join his organization.
Each door have different story, the story taken from horror folklore around the world. For someone who finish the door first, they'll get clue for their next door. If they finish their 1st door so they'll get clue for their 2nd door. And there's pause between each door, it can be weeks ig? or you can also jump doors, if you got in to the 4th door after your first door, the pause will counted from your first door, means you can live your life for months without any doors until your time for 5th door arrive. To jump doors you should get in with person who have their fourth door, or for big organization like obsidian, they have bracelet so everytime they got a gig to brought client thru door, they don't have to meet, just wear the bracelet.
Inside and outside the door is very different. Including the face and anything, you become different person when you got into the door. That's why ruan nanzhu usually crossdress and ppl belive he was a girl, cause the wig he wore turns into real hair inside the door.
The novel is so fun actually because all the crossdress and everything, also it's more plot-oriented, the romance isnt that much but the flirting and everything is THERE from the early chaps.
It looks so messy here if you read the novel the author really explain it thoroughly. Also kod got adapted to a drama called the spirealm, It's censored and got turned to a bromance but yeah if you want to have the big picture or maybe it's hard to imagine the scene you can watch the drama first and then read the novel! And listen to the audio drama for the yk *spicy* scene
it's an infinite flow novel where basically, people on the verge of death are involuntarily dragged into doors and have to solve each room to get out. There are 12 in total and each door has a 'door god' or guardian who is basically the final boss. If someone dies in a room, they die in real life, and no one knows what's in the 12th door but supposedly once you solve it, you can save your life. (if i'm wrong sorry, it's been such a long time since i read it).
The MC, Lin Qiushi, meets the ML, Ruan Nanzhu, in his first door while the ML's 'undercover' (once you're in the doors, your appearance is obscured so people usually give codenames so they can't connect them to their IRL selves and seek revenge). After that, ML takes MC in to his organisation that consists of other people going through the doors and trying to survive.
hmm it's been a while since I read it though so I can't go too into detail about dynamics cause my memory is shit but the main thing that stood out to me about KoD was how the doors have pretty interesting worlds and it's a surprisingly brutal story when dealing with relationships with characters and character motivations in a setting where death is constantly hanging over everyone's head.
I see the appeal of it to people who are fans, but personally, I prefer something like Mist/qqgk in the genre. My advice is try it out (it took me 3 attempts ngl) and, if you don't want spoilers, don't drop it too early just because you think the ML is slow to show- he appears earlier than you think.
Yes terribly good!!! First of all it's bl but i can say the romance just adds seasonings to the already perfect dish.
(Been a while since ive finished it, so i may have forgotten some)
Novel is about the ppl who are/ should be dead and the "doors" (forgot what its called) is what keeps you alive (scenarios are inside the doors) and the players are required that they enter and they say (like rumors) that if you cleared all of these doors, i think you'll be able to live again(?) or grant a wish to live again.
Forgot the total doors and also pardon me if i got some wrong (lots of novels read that it confuses me XD)
As its full of mysteries that'll keep you wandering what's happening, theres also a sprinkle of comedy that shall make you laugh
For the troupe (plss see tags in NU ehehe forgot)
And if your done reading recommend the novel 1.)Earth is Online, tho dif (concept but still horror and mystery) still one of the best.
2. Lord of the Mysteries might be stretch to read a thousand chapters but this I gurantee you will one of the greatest you'll ever read. Especially when your into world building and power structure.
Anyways happy reading (⌒▽⌒)

OMG YES!! We love our chaotic jiuhuo :DD!!! Truly my favourite couple. I feel qqgk is unique in the genre cause infinite flow typically has lots of serious undertones due to world-building but qqgk uses it to drive the relationship instead.
If you liked qqgk for the exams and side characters, then personally, I think KoD does it better. If you liked qqgk for the humour/banter, KoD is not a bad choice but I think it falls short in comparison. The biggest difference is that KoD uses its characters to explore the world/s in the novel while qqgk uses the world/s in the novel to explore the main couple's relationship. Mist or Panguan or First-Class Lawyer is more similar. Mist is infinite flow and the main couple is hilarious I actually had to stop reading to laugh. Plus the world building is so top-tier, each mini-world is incredibly unique that you'll probably never see again in another novel.
Panguan and First-Class Lawyer is from the same author as qqgk so that's already a positive but neither are infinite flow. Panguan's main couple feels like jiuhuo in another universe but with several more knives and the couple from First-Class Lawyer is so funny that their relationship is more like a competition to infuriate each other to the grave.
No problem! The author (Mu Su Li) has written a lot!! Here's a list of her works so check out what interests you I guess!

Asking those who've read Kaleidoscope of Death, what is the novel about? What's the concept? Or the trope? Also is it good?
