After this, Carcel begins to get vague memories of the past timelines. Due to the painting, he first remembers the painter Ines ran away with. Then a little later, he remembers Ines with Oscar in Mendoza banquet halls. So he realizes Ines chose other men in the previous timelines and wonders why she chose him in this timeline.
Spoiler
Because their first life ended tragically with both dying unfated deaths. In order to correct their fate, the angel gave them a chance to live again. Inés thought she had been an inadequate wife to Carcel so she made a wish for him to find a better life even if she ends up suffering. This is how she ends up suffering in the subsequent two lives because she fell into Oscar’s hands when Carcel was her correct fate all along.
On Carcel’s side, he had wished for a second chance to make her happy again but was told Ines made a different wish. He decided to respect her wish but wished for himself that he would never love anyone else but her. Carcel stuck to his fate which was always Ines so he never ended up in tragedy. However, he did make the wish if no other man can make Ines happy, he would like a second chance to make her happy.
This current and final timeline is his answered wish.
