To be fair on the prince's part, his mom died, his dad clearly doesn't care about him, he become noticeable more distant from his half-brother and by extension his step mother after his uncle started protecting him thereby stopping him from knowing what she's like.
It'd make sense to believe the only one that outwardly stays by your side and protected you even while the negative reputation of staying near the prince disliked by his own father, is obvious. And it's his mother's brother who was there for the prince at his lowest moment.
If anything, it's just a perfect chain of events to allow unquestionable trust to form

Thr prince seems to be idiotic.. Seriously, "uncle said this so it must be thrue" ... And didn't even checked it proerly that he said the truth? FLs tutor know something is not good but "don't disturb tge peace"... Like wtf? Do she really think ML going to be alive after the duke archive his goal? His goal is I think is: having that shl*t a royal heir, kill off ML then raise the child a trash. Maybe this was the plan with the MLs mother but, she didn’t agreed with the plan and they killed her off. The duke and that woman is surely the villain...
