And what´s wrong for searching for options? As you said, they weren´t even dating, not even in highschool did he know he was loved. Not knowing their feelings completely is okay, making mistakes and learning is okay... they both did bad things, and at the end he ended up forgiving and saying it´s okay. And that´s on being mature.
To me, while being in love with someone will make it impossible to search for options. Its just me tho. I understand things are complicated or sometimes really easy. I just dont want anyone to be an option in case it wont work with others. Anyways anyone is free to live how they want.
