The "this could have been" argument is so weird. Because it's simply not. It's not a story targeting people who are just into pet play. The author wrote a psychological BL with the 'dog' theme, used it as the character's trauma of being called a stinky dog. This couldn't have been "a perfect story for people with these type of fetishes" because that was not the intention, it's not about pet play kink.
