More complicated details change with every story but basically alphas, omegas are second genders in omegaverse, just think animals.

Omegas go into heats, in which they produce a lot of slick and it’s basically breeding season for animals but for humans. They need the alpha to cum inside them which is also known as “knotting”, during which their likely hood of getting pregnant is very high because animals instincts. Pheromones are basically a smell they produce to attract alphas. The more the alpha likes the smell of the pheromones, the more compatible they are, which means they are more likely to be “for each other” and obviously, alphas have their own pheromones for their omegas. It’s also a sort of marking in which they tell other alphas to stay away without actually saying it like “they this omega got a partner” the omegas can control the pheromones usually, but not during their heats. But it also depends if they’re a dominant omega or a recessive one (which I won’t go into detail because I’m confusion) anyways, because of this secondary gender thing, omegas can get pregnant even if they are a man. And that is called “Mpreg”. So when omegas go into heat, their chances of getting pregnant increases, and if you look at whatever you’re reading, you can see colors of aura around the omegas which is their pheromones releasing. Ofc pheromone marking but he alpha, which is basically them putting a protective layer around their omega, is temporary marking. Omegas have pheromone glands on the back of their necks and if bitten I think somewhere around there, then they are permanently marked. But yea, it’s a matter of compatibility and a way of seducing alphas because animal instincts.

to put it simply:

alphas - superior in every sense, majorly generalized as dominant, top, masculine etc.

betas - normal people, cannot get into heats, usually male betas dont get pregnant, usually cannot smell pheromones

heats/estrus period - time where omegas usually go into heat (conception) fever and the urge to mate, potent, omegas usually are fertile in this stage, both male and female become wet

pheromones - the “smell” they emit, usually omegas attract alphas when they emit it (uncontrollably and controllably) and vice versa, has distinct scents, may be used to control the atmosphere (case for alphas) e.g, tension, anger. as for betas they cant usually smell this and are unaffected

omegas - the opposite of alphas, feminine usually, fertile both male and female, inferior amongst alphas and betas

attraction: normally, fact is, alpha and omegas are the “normal pair”, fated pair is basically a predetermined pair. it is rather uncommon for beta x alpha, beta x omega

knots: during mating, usually alphas form a knot to secure the semen for a better conception rate

Alphas - Highest in the society, since they're kinda advance especially within the physical appearance and physical strength

Betas - They're the most common in the society. They consist more that half of it. They're considered the normal ones

Omegas - Least population in the society. Some call them born to be breed since they can get pregnant. They commonly have small physique, but in other stories they can look buffy too.


Pheromones - every Alphas and Omegas have pheromones that attracts someone. Omegas usually have sweeter scent though. (When heat and rut are present, pheromones are stronger by scent)

Heat - Heat comes to Omegas, it depends cause in some stories it comes around similar to a women menstrual cycle. Once or twice in every month. (If they're irregular, it comes around every 6 months but it depends to the author sometimes)

Rut - Rut comes to Alphas, it works the same as heat works.

Heat & Rut - it kicks in as an secondary [Omegas & Alpha] gender instincts. Where you only think of breeding (fucking for Alphas and being fuck for Omegas)
How does it work? Simply by having a similar symptoms as fever, with of course the urges of breeding.


Omegas and Alphas take medicines too. Like stabilizers to stabilize ttheir Pheromones. There's aalso things similar to avoid pregnancy.
