From a medical perspective, smoking aside from slowly killing you, it makes quality of life shitty in more than imaginable ways. Is it easy to get off smoking? No, but it's not impossible either. I honestly hope they both quit and start being a bit more healthy because their lung capacities are 100% shit, not to mention depending on how long they've been smokers one of them has COPD for sure.
Yeah well that doesn't mean that they don't face illness or suffering. And tabaco has 50-70 + toxic ingredients that literally blow up your alveoli (where oxigen is exchanged with CO2) and that equals shit breathing quality, recurrent infections, chronic illness, not to mention the risk of lung cancer + other kinds of tumors sky rockers as comparison to non smokers. What my point is, in some people heavy and chronic smoking kills some people (lung cancer is literally one of the leading lethal cancers ) while in others makes their life miserable with countless visits and stays in the hospital due to chronic pathologies, recurrent infections, surgeries because of cancers, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, etc. Take it from someone who works in the healthcare field.
Just wondering how much longer Haruki would go on living for, I mean with his smoking habits
