Idk the answer fr but my guess would be that he knew the emporer (first ml) was gonna g-cide that village and that created the perfect opportunity to make the mc completely isolated once and for all so that like you said he’d have no one else to rely on.
Orrr let's say he knows about Image poison etc and knows our Image will take revenge. So he did it to take the throne from his assassinated bro since he is a low level administrative officer.
question: how are people even remotely liking the emperor, every chapter my hate for him grows. been waiting for a plot twist but not even 10 chapters i lost all hope. 2nd ml is okay. i find him boring. i’ll keep readin til i catch up tho
