I don't

I don't feel bad for anyone who has died in the story. Both sides are lying in beds of their own making choosing to ignore their faults. Humans and monster alike acting chill till they meet each other and then decide immediate execution is the answer. They're too far in to say one is more at fault then the other. The humans ignore the guilt inside them and the passages of their own religion that mention compassion and love. While the monsters choose to ignore the parts of themselves that know what empathy is, choosing to perpetuate the belief that they are nothing more then oddly shaped animals.

We know more about the human side but that is purely because the Mc is a former human and the fl is a human. But from actions taken by monster npc's in the beginning of the story and human npc's in the latter half they are suffering the consequences of their generational hate. Neither side has avidly worked to change the reality they live in and instead perpetuate it. Children are not at fault for what they are born into but one can only excuse so much of their behavior when the line between childhood habits and adult behavior is thin. Especially when the terrible things happening to the children of this story are the consequences of the adults who happily feed into the violence they've been born into themselves.

To be upset that the human children are being killed means we should be equally upset the monster children were killed. But most of the readers are not and that's our own bias at play, because they are not "human" even if the humans present are nothing more then fictional drawings. I myself, like I said at the start of all this, do not feel bad about either side's losses. I will not feel bad till I see someone who has worked to change and escape the cycle meeting their end. So I felt bad for the little boy being raised by the demon (and the demon himself) and I felt bad for the fl's parents. I felt a little saddened by the demon villagers dying, but I did catch myself thinking "do they live there because it is convenient, or do they do it because they want to end the cycle." The answer teetering towards convenience.

Anyway I know that my opinion cannot change people's minds I just wanted to get it out there.
