Did u not read the part where I mentioned his trauma being the cause of his alcoholic behavior?? I understand trauma = having issues but what I don’t like is how up until the very end minus ab 5 chapters he was all over the place and the character development was rushed.
The author should’ve either extended the story, started the character development earlier on, or have a time skip. Otherwise, the entire bl centered on a self destructive uke that IRRATIONALLY annoyed me and I literally cannot remember any of his redeemable qualities even though I binged and finished this recently. Yknow why? Bc that’s all uke was portrayed and remembered as in the minds of readers when it was told like that the entire story.
And that fucking whore seme x pure uke trope was more directed at the second couple. Robin needs to stand up literally a decade ago. I only mentioned the main semes whorish past bc that’s a personal pet peeve of mine but it was manageable since it didn’t show seme explicit with others.
Well then let me enlighten you. First of all, Iliyan's character development is shown throughout the whole story, not the last 5 chapters. He changes from someone who was selfish, callous and cocky to someone who actually feel bad about how he talk to Chris about his sick sister. When out of his way to apologize and offer to pay her hospital fee to make admens for his rudeness. He realized his mistake and want to become better. That's character development.
And it continues to season 2, where he decided to stop being an alcoholic because once again, he want to be a better partner for Kyle. And instead of holding on to the resentment toward his shitty father, he break free it from it, from all the past trauma, trust issue, abdonment issue. That's also character development.
And those could never happen if Kyle wasn't by his side to give him all the strength and the encouragement he needs to overcome his devils. That's what Kyle is - a great boyfriend who see through Iliyan's spiky facade and genuinely care about him, not a manwhore. It was never hinted that he fuck around. In fact, it explains the reason he has that nickname was because Helen treated him like one. So check your reading comprehension on that one.
The story explains very well HOW Iliyan can't help but become self-destructive, HOW trauma and addiction can affects one person and their life and HOW can our mc break free/move on from it. All that require character depth and Iliyan sure as hell has it. Therefore readers can sympathize with him, root for him, etc. I mean the man didn't even like alcohol in the first place.
If you can't get i then like the first reply said, you just don't have the EQ capacity to understand it. And that's okay, just don't blame the story and the characters for your shortcomings.
This was a mid read all around. The uke was a self sabotaging disaster the entire story bc of his trauma and only got character development legit within the last 5 chapters. None of the characters interested me except Helena she’s a bad bitch. I also despise the manwhore seme x innocent uke trope especially more so when the uke is at the beck and call of the dick for brains seme. Ik it didn’t show kyle as a whore but it was hinted at, and don’t even with his brother gayle
