Because the body really is the dukes daughters. Remember the whole incident about the fl’s grandfather having the dukes first wife (or lover) killed so he could marry his daughter to the duke. That lady was pregnant with Cosette but the child had already died in her womb so when she summoned a demon for revenge that demon ragibach possessed the dead baby.

And I don’t remember THAT part so it’s quite possibly that ragibach killed the baby in that lady’s womb and took her place.
