Was English always this hard?

'cause damn. I believe I need an Oxford dictionary while reading this hahaha.
Ps: perhaps I'm struggling because english it's not my first language

    As a native speaker, it’s going for “old English” but just fees awkward and doesn’t flow very well. I think they did “old timey” speak much better in painter in the night, were there’s just some phrases and how they refer to each other. This Manhwa is laying it on a little thick and it breaks the flow I think.

    The language in this manhwa is actually pretty mild compared to "Steel Under Silk".

    This Old English is actually pretty mild and easy to comprehend , way easier than Steel Under Silk for sure. Also as a native speaker, this reads more like 12th Grade English Lit, it’s more poetic and I disagree about it breaking the flow, it actually flows pretty well imo
