someone please help!!

i think its a shoujo cant remember if the mc was a boy or a girl but the ml was deeply in love with them...his friends told(?) him that he was pushing himself too hard for the mc (cause they were in a relationship) and HINTING that he wasnt really in love with them and that it was just a sense of responsibility and such but the ml denied and said that he was doing it because he loves the mc and that he wasnt pushing himself and stuffs like that - I've read it a while ago and wanted to reread it but i cant remember ugh cant even remember if its a bl or straight but i think it was straight HELP!!
