I was just thinking about that- the art style is deceptively simple, maybe- not a lot of fancy shading, tones, backgrounds, etc... but I especially like the expressions. I feel like there is a lot of emotional vulnerability and subtle nuances in the characters' posture, too, that perhaps stand out more the way it is than if there was a team of helpers adding heaps of extra details. I think it seems very honest and appealing, even when the cast are having unhappy moments.
The author calls her art "gross" but I think it's pretty. I like the way she draws her eyes and hair. Or maybe it's just me?
