Yeah I agree, we haven't gotten a lot of back story on him yet. So we'll see what tragic past he likely has that explains his attitude. Also not trying to defend the ml but no one can be perfect, he hasn't attempted to force the MC into anything and he clarified his intentions from the start, even if he's kinda toxic in his thoughts. Plus MC, unlike most I've seen, actually has a back bone and can take care of himself. He is in fact a grown adult that can make his own decisions. He's proven himself many times that he knows when he should leave a situation, it's basically all he does, he may be lonely but he isn't an idiot. So I think we might get some really good character development. I don't think there's a need for a redemption ark yet but we'll see how ML deals with his new emotions and blatant jealousy. I was really scared with how this was going to go at first cause these dynamics are usually hella toxic but I think the author might pull this off really well. I'm excited lol but if it does lead to blatant SA cause ML can't cope with his emotions I'll definitely drop this, I hope not but you never know.
So I am not trying to defend the ml, but I think he may have actual issues with conveying emotions. Like it might be an actual problem. He looks genuinely confused during some parts.
