I read spoilers from a web novel forum that said he won't abandon her, but he will lock her up. He takes her sight, voice, and hearing. He wants her to become completely reliant on him.
I don't know what triggers this though.
It doesn't work the way he wants because of her dream walking ability and her dad helps her escape.
