He actually has his reasons for that. I pity the ML because he endured the suffering so much of losing Se-jin from the 1st Time Libe and still carries that burden to the 2nd TL. The reason why he does what he do in the second TL is because he wanted Se-jin to do what he wants. He wanted Se-jin to learn how to voice out what is in his mind, to know his rights and make his own decisions and most of all to be independent and free. Ido will make it all happen. He will make Se-jin take perfumer class and even set people around him to make Se-jin realize what he really wants. He will encourage Se-jin to get licensed in perfumry through Lee Hee-na (Spoiler his body guard’s future spouse.) Se-jin then will be licensed and after that he will gift Se-jin a Perfumery company that named S.E.J.I.N. He will make Se-jin work there as the CEO.
After Ido ser everything and after he made sure that Se-jin can now fully stand up on his own, that’s when he plans to break off the engagement and plans to kill himself for Se-jin to fully be freed from him. That’s the reason why he only rid off the bullets and not the gun in the second timeline. Luckily Se-jin is persistent after the break up and went to Ido demanding the truth. That’s when Ido spilled that he saw Se-jin died in front of him. Well that day they both imprinted the second time. Se-jin thought he could handle the truth of the past but it was too much so the two took a break for like months. Ido didn’t kill himself but he can’t take the lonelyness of being away from Se-jin so he made all sorts of business meetings, sponsorships and such just to meet Se-jin. Well Se-jin loves Ido and decided to forgive Ido. They both start dating and that’s when Se-jin the anxiousness that Ido carries is far more dark and deeper than he thought. Ido doesn’t almost sleep and whenever he has nightmares of the past he goes to the study andd stares at the gun in his hand. Oh BTW during the second break up after the imprint Se-jin start seeing psychiatrist. Well Ido is very pitiful in away during the later part of the story.
The reason why Ido made Se-jin step down from his managerial role in his father’s company is because in the 1st Time Line his father framed him up to the embezzlement case and tax evasion case. In the first time line it was Ido who got him out, that time Ido was still in love with Se-jin.
But the only thing I can say thaf everything Ido does even though it may seem like a bad thing is true to his words all for Se-jins wellbeing
Kind of in a way. It gets darker as the truth unveils. Even though the ending is happy you still get the feeling that they are still on their way of healing. In the novel the story ended when Se-jin asked Ido for a date and they drove back to the Han river and there Se-jin told Ido that every year at the time of their wedding anniversary he will launch a new perfume that will be his gift for his husband Ido. Se-jin now then knows the depth of Ido’s anxiousness of losing Se-jin again so he told Ido that they can finally leave the past of their memories behind because at the end of that memory they are happy.
(Girl it gave me goosebumps ngl, when Se-jin said it, because in the Novel that is the title: At the end of that memory.)
So he told Ido to gift him a happy marriage and they like sealed it with pinky swear.
For me the ending is perfectly incomplete and yet it seems right. Their healing is not rush and hurried and the open ending of them healing is just right for this ending. The author didn’t end it like they have child or what so ever but ended it with both finding healing together as they face their new life together in their up coming marriage.
I'm confused beyond words . THEY MET? DID THEY DATW BEFORE? DID HE HAVE SOME MEMORY LOSS? WHAT IS GOING ON!!
