I think its to show that hes corrupt because he had a mistress which is normally not allowed as a pope.
And ruby was adopted by him because the popes second mistress carmed had her. So i think all of them were born by different mistresses which showcases that the pope was indeed corrupt

why can the pope have children? is it normal in their world or is it not normal and it just shows that hes corrupt? but if its not normal why arent his children being ridiculed or something
