I don't think so. You don't understand Sol's POV. He met Brian and become someone dear to him, but then Brian is just a human who had a short life compare to him. knewing soon or later he'll be reincated but not knowing exactly when. Sol wait, and wait so many years. Of course sol became desperate longing for Brian to come back. Even in real life, some people choose to remarry than reunite with them in the afterlife(or whatever your belief/religion) when their partner died, cuz having a longing for someone isn't easy. So some people choose other things to distract their grief before they go insane.
i get where ur getting at and maybe i really dont understand sol's pov, but this is js my opinion lol. somehow u misunderstood me too, cs all im saying is that no matter how much a person longs for their loved ones to come back, they shouldnt blur the identities or characters of their past from their current. they r all different ppl, and despite being a reincarnation of an existence doesnt mean they should be stuck in the past it took place in. ian is NOT brian (unless he gets his memories back i guess)
I think you miss the important point here. In this reincarnation trope, a person may be born in the current time, but their soul is still remains their old self. So of course sol do the necessary stuff to woken up ian's past self and reclaim what once his. That's how the plot goes. In the current time lorkan found brian's reincarnation earlier than sol so of course lorkan have more advantages to get closer and build a relationship with ian.
if he's gonna be with lorkan with his current self (brian), he rather be with no one. lorkan literally isolated and kinda groomed (not sexually)him from childhood to adulthood. I don't think he's better for liking the current version of him since he did all bad things that affected brian for the benefit of himself (lorkan).
dk but somehow i feel like i'd be okay w ian being w lorkan in their present lives rather than sol D: it looked to me that lorkan saw ian as 'ian' and not brian ever since, and even if his ways were kinda controlling n shi it doesnt seem to me like our mc is only a replacement of who once existed and was cared for genuinely for who he really was, unlike sol who felt like was hanging on to every piece of brian there was, eventually perceiving ian as someone else just to satisfy that covenant they made 900 years ago. he loved truly, yeah, but ian is js not brian anymore and hes his own person which sol doesnt seem to understand yet
