His entire work is basically a plea for people to not do this and yet everyone lost their heads and think of this a terrible romance of all times. That’s why I don’t like it when they say love like Romeo ti Juliet cuz it’s not right. What pisses me off is how actual literature guys say this like dudes your job is sticking to the og and making it sure to be the truth but you’re saying this is a love story? Just burn your title while you’re at it!
Don’t be sensitive. No one change the original or anything. The art of retelling has been present in stories and books for ages. The retelling is not the original, it’s a different story with same/similar elements to the original.

But this one is great. It seems Romeo is in love with Rosaline (Obssession) and Juliet is fool younger that id being used. This is a good retelling

D’acc I understand your pov. But this is a complete different story built based on the original. Doesn’t need to have the same perspective/intention they are by different author. If it was titled Romeo & Juliet maybe but it’s not.
I understand why people would compare retellings & the original as it’s completely expected. I do too. But to not like it simply because it’s a variant and not the sameas the og, ignoring the uniqueness and characteristics of the story is （￣へ￣）

Probably because of the time period. At that time it was quite the norm for old men to marry younger women which makes it hard for the audience to grasp wether Shakespeare wanted to mock the story or that he simply wrote what was normal back then. We can’t be sure which is why there are many interpretations.

The original story of Shakespeare included rosaline a lot , Romeo and juliet were more of satire then romance , he was like mocking how foolish they were
Romeo friends talked about how he was in love with Rosaline just a few days ago and now he loved juliet
Also Shakespeare made juliet really young for a reason 13-14 maybe and Romeo was a lot older for a reason , it highlights how she was easily swayed at that age , at that time some rich old people used to marry young girl, it was mocking them more than anything
If I wrote something like this and someone came and changed my entire perspective and the reason why I wrote it making it the opposite like a beautiful romance story I would be pissed
