the reason why they have to find the « real » bride is because without the right bride being married to shuden the saints holy power can not be activated. in the past when valia became her maid at arms, the saint could finally use her powers a little but not completely because valia and shuden where not married. in conclusion it is just a condition that enables the saint to use her full power.

they never explained why the sacrificial wife had to marry shuden specifically but i’m assuming it’s because he’s been donating to the church a lot as well as protecting the crown AND the empire for so long without receiving anything in return. that’s really just me speculating tho maybe they’ll give more context later

So can someone explain to me this Oracle about the Wife of Shu? Like...is it just an Oracle and they're all just following it? Or does it actually mean something? I guess I'm asking if the first Marchioness wasn't his true bridal candidate but they stayed married would it have brought on the end of the world or something?? Or is it that whatever the Oracle says is what goes and if it says that she's not the true Bride, then they all have to follow it. But nothing will happen if they don't follow....right? Am I making sense???
