He stays obsessive/toxic even goes as far as using the pearls made from her tears to make a necklace and anklets for her. She is super naive and innocent so she thought they were gifts but they were actually shackles that would weigh her down when she goes into the sea so she could drown if she tries to swim away. He treats her “better” when he unshackles her, but that isn’t till like ch 60-something in the novel. They have sex often, but aside from the questionable first time, FL actually tries to always have sex with him and even uses that to keep him from leaving her. Mermaids are close to extinction because they keep getting killed when looking for their soulmates so the elders of mermaids kinda drill it into them to create off springs which is why FL is constantly trying/initiating it.
ML brother was past emperor and his nephew is the new one, the nephew’s a piece of shit just like his dad, at first nephew actually looked up and admired his uncle but he would do pranks and shit to get his uncles attention then ultimately turned into his dad and has a weird complex against his uncle always trying to take what’s his. His childhood friend is ML fiancé and he always had a thing for her. They were even supposed to get married, but the past emperor said no and had her engaged to ML so that adds fuel to his hate. She tells him about ML’s ‘pet fish’ so he kidnaps FL and tries to (g)rape her but Ml gets there in time to stop it.
At some point, Estelle comes to see ML and told him that she had to redecorate the duke estate. ML told her to go ahead and was getting married with Estelle. On the other hand FL could be pregnant since she had a dream about baby. The fiancé told her she’d do everything to hurt/kill FL’s maid if she stayed, FL’s pregnant and needed to be in the water for a long time with the child so she needed to go no matter what but was not wanting to leave ML. Fl told him she loved him, but he never said it back so she figured it was best to just go. FL uses her powers to sing a song that made everyone forget her and it worked except for ML.
As for him he pretty much went insane. ‘We get his POV he says it was love at first sight and loved FL from the beginning. He came back after destroying Estelle’s family and FL was gone and everyone forgot her. He spends years sailing trying to find her home and when he finally got a clue he basically tried to die in the ocean since that would give him a chance to find her home if he managed to liveand runs away and we get ML POV telling how he feel in love at first sight with FL and was never actually planning to marry Estellle, her father was planning treason and he was waiting to attack him to take that entire family down
FL successfully ran away for about 3 years and they have a daughter in the end. She has pink hair and golden eyes.
Did the ML ever find the FL and their daughter?
Yeah, it’s a “happy” ending. I’m pretty sure she’s the one who saves him in the end honestly I can’t remember who the mermaid that saves him but I know they get together and go back
