He was assassinated by the MC at the order of the new emperor(current crown prince) after a few years.
But he (the ML) was likely going to die soon anyways, and he knew that, which explains a lot of his behavior in the flashbacks.
When Yuder was executed the ML had been dead for years.
so are they already in love with each other when the emperor ordered the mc to assassinate the ml? Or the mc was in love with the emperor?
And what do you mean when the ml is likely going to die? He's going to die regardless if the mc assassinate him or not?
I’ll be putting some space below to cover the spoilers for others but basically…
Spoilers:
Kishiar’s been revealed to have powers of an awakener, swordsmaster, and divine power currently in the manwha, and additionally he also has the power of a mage. His abilities are so powerful that his body is barely holding on. He was at death’s door with 3 of the powers (aura, divinity, and magic) until he awakened about 2 years ago. His power as an awakener is somehow keeping his powers together and in delicate balance.
In the previous timeline, it was Kishiar, not Yuder, who got injured by the reaction of the redstone; and this accident basically caused his powers to become unbalanced again, reverting his health unfortunately back similarly to how it had been before he awakened. This is why Kishiar was set up for death even if the current emperor of that timeline (current crown prince, Katchian) hadn’t ordered Yuder to assassinate him.
Yuder has no feelings for the emperor of that timeline, and his and Kishiar’s relationship back then didn’t seem to be very good. I say ‘seem’ because as shown in the manwha now, Yuder’s memories concerning Kishiar aren’t quite complete.
As hinted in the chapters rn, Yuder and Kishiar of the previous timeline were imprinted/bonded, but the event isn’t a very good memory for Yuder because they both basically lost control of themselves when Yuder’s first heat suddenly hit him and caused a scandal.
Kishiar does have feelings for Yuder in the previous timeline. Arguably, Yuder could be assumed to have been in love too, but considering how out of touch he is with most emotions because of everything he’s been through in the previous timeline, he doesn’t recognize or acknowledge this.
In the previous timeline, Kishiar and the current emperor’s (Keilusa’s) enemies were winning hence why the current crown prince had become emperor then. Keilusa has a similar problem with his body as Kishiar as a result of the scheming of the 4 dukes (mostly the Diarca house) and he had to use his own powers to protect both himself and his empress from the assassination attempt. Eventually, Keilusa’s body caved and he died. I don’t remember if the novel mentioned, or how it happened, but the empress followed her husband after.
Kishiar, being the last bloodline of the current monarchy (the crown prince was not related to him or the emperor, and is basically a puppet of the Diarca family for now), knows his time is limited either way. He’ll either die because his powers overload his body, or Katchian/Duke Diarca would kill him, so he did what he could to instead protect those who would live on after his death.
He gave Yuder the position of Commander of the Arcane Legion (novel calls it Cavalry though), and arranged it in the background to encourage Katchian to order his assassination using Yuder as the killer to help Yuder and the Arcane Legion stay within Katchian’s good books and avoid being purged.
Yuder isn’t privy to any of this information until much later, in the current timeline. So, he never saw eye-to-eye with Kishiar of the previous timeline, which explains their rocky relationship despite being mates (the term is unknown in this world.)

I can assure you Yuder and Kishiar are, and always had been, very devoted to each other in both timelines. So there’s definitely no need to worry there.

so the commander is the ml right..? what was his role in mc's previous life (life before the regression)? why didn't he at least tried to save or sided with the mc when he was wrongly accused? Where was he?
Ps: i haven't read the whole manhwa yet nor the novel, i just want to know if the ml is a jerk in his previous life and present life.
