The interesting things about omegaverse is to view it not as animals but humans. The way society teachers the younger generations about the roles and then they take note of her their parents act. In most omegaverses, Omega's are treated like whores, they want it right? So this idea is they are worthless sluts. So it's easier going about it in that logic to think of them as nothing more than a toy. Picture it like most cultures in the developing world. Take India's rape problems. Women are treated like toys, and if they dare try to get an education and dress in western clothing, they deserve to be raped.
Actually many animals "rape" other animals. In the animal kingdom, it literally can be about who can get to the female first while she's in heat so they can impregnate her. It's a competition.
I think that's the point. It isn't as much that it is instinct but that Alpha's in society are taught "oh well, they just can't help it" and since we aren't expected to abide by the laws like everyone else/we know people will go easy on us since expectations are so low, they don't hold themselves to a higher standard and think they can get away with it.
It's similar to the ideology in our real society where girls have to wear clothes that cover them completely so that the boys don't get tempted and distracted (even though it has be proven that what the woman wears isn't a real factor but the way guys reason. They have been taught by society that they can blame it on the woman, and so thats what they do, just like the alphas here saying its the omegas fault they rape them, instead of their own.)
It's not that I don't understand the plot or what is being portrayed by these types of stories, that wasn't my point, out of all the omegaverse I've read this was one of the most disgusting, whereas other stories portray alphas as ravenous and out of control, the guys here aren't and and I was saying in general that the idea that alphas act the way they do because of the pheromones is what i don't care for.

w/ omegaverse is the notion that alphas are affected that much by pheromones that they lose their damn mind and all sanity to the point of not being able to think straight..right after I thought that I don't buy into that..his raggedy friends prove that they still have common sense..wth is that bs?!?!
