I don't understand

How do people rate mangas? Why is this rated below 9? It's a bit generic I get that but definitely better then so many others out there?

Tbh, because of the rating, I was expecting r5pe or some other toxic behavior. To my surprise, the only toxic behavior was the first dude and how he’d be mean or insensitive towards the MC. That he was unwillingly to commit to him because he found it to be a hassle and problematic and wasn’t really taking the other dudes feelings into consideration.

My guess towards why the story is rated so low is because it’s pretty fast paced. He was really into the first dude but then suddenly he just agreed to go out with the nicer friend who was always into him. (They’re even living together by the end of it. For a second I thought I missed a few chapters when I realized they were now dating.)

The pervs out there could be upset that the author showed the MC getting it on with the first dude but not so much with the new boyfriend. (Dumb reason to hate on it)

The first dude cut contact with the MC after he brought up how he felt. He never really apologized either. They just basically moved on. (Felt unfinished)

So I’m assuming readers would have preferred the author deepened their interactions a bit more and made it less abrupt or less vague.

The 2nd story has the same issue, fast paced and abrupt.

This isn’t a very wow, holy moly kind of story. It’s generic and missing a tiny bit more depth.
I appreciate there not being r5pe, I truly do, but I wish the author had just given a tad more depth to the story cause it does feel like it’s missing some stuff.
