I think ML knew what his plans are all along. I think he's just buying time. At any point, he was and will always be couple of steps ahead than him that I have a hunch ML already knew that he's planning to kill him.
I really want them to have a really happy ending tho it may take a while for those chapters to come. We still are to know what exactly happened to Yeonjoo's father ╥﹏╥
