I’ve read all the available novels and side stories I can get my hands on so I’ve seen the character development for Ilay and I’ve never read the other 2 series but I’ve read all the comments on them both and one thing I can say for sure is that compared to the other 2, Ilay never purposely hurt Tae just for shits and giggles or to humiliate him (like I’ve read in the comments that Caesar shot and raped Lee Won or Zhenya raped MC for a week straight and even made him bleed.) And he’s not really the jealous type either (not saying there haven’t been times when he hasn’t gotten jealous, but he hasn’t gone bat shit insane and done something heinous to Tae. It mainly leads to sex). Their communication is pretty good, they trust each other and there are a few scenes here and there about their domesticity (they watch movies together and go out on dates (not that we’re shown those scenes. We’re just old about them). They go on vacations.) Ilay at one point straight up tells Tae he would never hurt him (but do not dare hurt Tae because all hell will break loose. In one of the side stories Tae gets hurt and Ilay goes after the men and it does not end well for them. Some of Ilay’s old teammates from the T&R task force even joke with Tae that what Ilay did to those men means more than an engagement ring (because it shows his level of commitment towards him). Overall they become a really cute, loving couple.
Wait aww I can’t wait for those scenes to be drawn ilay and taeui actually work out bc their relationship isn’t just forced Stockholm syndrome imo, like even now taeui is mainly being dragged back bc other ppl will come for him, and even then ilay said he’ll let him find jaeui, ilay isn’t aggressively possessive which makes him way better
Exactly.
I’m not sure if this was covered in the comic, but the novel has a chapter from Ilay’s POV and talks about the time Tae stepped in when that guy walked into the cafeteria trying to shoot Ilay and Ilay says at that moment he lost interest in the guy who tried to kill him because Tae had piqued his interest.
Tbh compared to other “black flag” mls, ilay is much more easygoing in a way, like he’s possessive but not in an aggressive way like ceaser zhenya (mentioned them bc them+ ilay are the big 3 for toxic mls) but maybe it’s just taeui’s personality that makes him seem that way, idk their dynamic isn’t stressing me out like the code name Anastasia and roses and champagne
