As the name suggests, BDSM is not bondage, domination and sadomasochism. It's not Domination-Submission. There are actually Domination-Submission relationships in real life without the bondage, and even sometimes without SM.
So, again, that's not a verse that's just a real life thing that you didn't know of.
The person who "created" the "subverse" actually created nothing. Doms in real life are people who actually need a sub and that need is indeed part of who they are and inherent to their personality / life story or even just sometimes that's just how they are.
Same for subs.
So yeah, that's not a verse that's just people being ignorant about real life.

I only said that becz I'm very deep into the bdsm space thou I agree with you that it's not always sexual and doesn't even need to require what most people think it is.
Hmmm
I think why I see subverse and the overall irl ds relationship differently is perhaps becz of the acceptance in their respective worlds?
Plus the use of medication to suppress desire and all that.
Whether it is not always sexual or not isn't my point, I don't know and don't really care about that. But DS is not necessarily BDSM and it's certainly not a verse, just people having their own hobbies
The word verse is not based on acceptance it is based on existence. This is why there's no BDSM verse or criminal verse.
Sure, they added a bit of supernatural to it but it is still, for the most part, a real thing that doesn't qualify as a seperate verse. Especially since the DS in that "verse" are a small percentage of the population just like real life.
But I understand what one would consider it a verse as it is made a natural thing. I think the sole fact that the author made it a "verse" pisses me off I 100% blame authors.
- omegaverse
- dom/sub verse
- hunter/guide verse
- CAKEVERSE??
