    Not necessarily. It honestly depends on state/country laws. Like I’m USA some states you can some you can’t.

    In the US it would be, yes, however most people would still do it in my experience at least because there's more reprocussions to blackmail, defamation, threats, possible civil unrest because of the severity, obstruction of rights being able to be with who you want, a slew of corporate law issues, etc in their case over something like a non-consensual recording. And actually I think there are loopholes for thisnttpe of thing because I mean victims of abuse take recordings all the time and never face penalty for doing so. I know more about torte than criminal law, but I'm sure if a lawsuit ensued because of the threat of livelihood they'd still win. And there are other witnesses too so it works in their favor despite double jeopardy (i believe)

    Where I live, it isn't illegal if it's evidence for their crime/harassment so I'm thinking thats where it differs.

    In south Korea it's legal to record a conversation in which your own voice can be heard clearly.
