I feel like they're trying to make the male lead look good by mentioning that the female lead is a minor and make him reculent to date her. It just feels a little wrong instead. Like he has to calm himself down when he gets excited by mentioning that. I really like that he isn't dating her cuz she's a minor but a kind of feels like a bit predatory since he's like waiting until she's 18 to date her.
