People complain when authors let the children MCs act like children too
I seen it in lots of manhwas were the Mc who regressed to childhood act like a child to avoid suspension AND reclaiming of side lost childhood. And people complain because “Mc so stupid why can’t she be more mature???” Etc’ etc’
You can’t win this battle
And about the evil child characters, as someone who used to watch true crime (not anymore) real world cases prove that children have the ability to be cruel and dangerous to other children their ages and even younger. So I’m not surprised.
Tbh it’s not like the children are evil. They just don’t know wrong from right. When I was younger I used to catch and dissect animals and they insects. I never knew it was wrong or strange until my mother stopped me. Children are supposed to have reliable guardians for a reason. You can only blame an adult when a child goes wayward.
I agrée with you about MC. The MC can never be something as lame as ‘normal’.
I’m talking about every other child depicted (except the ML). For example,
her brothers, the last boy-child I interacted with told me to go die and then started giggling. Real children are gremlin little assholes and look cute because otherwise we’d kill’em then die as a species.
It’s also in FL in general
They want a Mary sue FL who is kind, badass, smart but not too cruel in her revenge.
And when we get more realistic approaches to trauma and healing the FL is deemed weak even though it was less than 20 chapters since the story started
And when the FL does a cruel revenge and is morally grey in anyway shape of form people dislike her…
But then they complain that all the stories are the same when they hate all the stories that aren’t the same and don’t read them. It’s tiring tbh.
Yeah, also the effects of fans on creativity…
No one wants a flawed FL and if she start to show her flaws they start up go “dropping this FL is stupid”
“Dropping this FL is too cruel” “dropping this FL is too nice” “dropping this FL is too weak” or when the FL does something they don’t like and they to straight up misogyny and slurs “FL is a slut!!!” “FL is trash!!” Etc’
It’s annoying, especially those that leave their annoying ass comments of manhwa. People needs to relearn the “don’t like don’t read and continue to scroll” no one forcing them to read, there is also no need to leave unnecessary comments (like all the dropping this comments or the disgusting slander comments) that don’t add anything to the manhwa discussion. Nor help if grow.
People needs to relearn that they don’t need to put their opinions onto things they don’t like.
For the record I’m not talking about your original comment, it’s adding to the discussion about a topic that is in the manhwa so I don’t see it as unnecessary.
you... seem to have a vendetta against children, which is honestly a wholly different topic on its own. but anyway, smart/mature-for-their-age children have been a staple/trope since the beginning of anime, not just in this genre. plus, this series has saints, holy powers, and regressions, characters acting out of their age aren't really that unbelievable. ( ̄へ ̄)
I think I’m really being misunderstood here. I don’t know where you pulled out the idea that I have a ‘vendetta’ against children? As I said before I’m not talking about MCs’ or children that have basically adult/ancient traumatized souls in their bodies.
I made a generalized statement barely skimming the troubling depiction of children characters aimed at a female audience.
The way kids are unrealistically portrayed as the human equivalent of emotional support animals is deeply concerning and can have far reaching consequences. But still that’s barely skimming the surface of the topic.
I didn’t think the comment section here was the place to get deep about it but I can.
Ah, apologies. the latter half of "Real children are gremlin little assholes and look cute because otherwise we’d kill’em then die as a species." was just a tad surprising ( ̄∇ ̄"). it may have just been an exaggeration/joke but it went over my head. again, really sorry about my poor choice of words.
and also i wasnt talking about the MC, or any other isekai'd/transmigrated souls into children's body either. for this series, the children don't really act beyond the usual anime tropes:
- the fake saintess was groomed and pampered by her greedy dad, and whether in fear or pride (or both), is willing to do all means handed to her (since it's the adults directing the plans to her) and claim the saint title.
- i dont have a clear read on the prince yet since his importance and role (aside from being the likely ml) isn't revealed yet other than appearing in the mc's dreams.
- the twins, as the duke admitted, are spoiled brats basically since he wasn't able to provide a warm paternal guidance. the more rambunctious brother acts like a typical rowdy kid, while the more intellectual brother is a nerdy bookworm who prefers solitude. and both sometimes give off an overbearing/overprotective menacing vibes towards the mc, as caused by their father's influence.
i'm not really sure what you meant by the children becoming emotionally support animal-equivalents. do you mean when the adults want to pamper the mc, or feel refreshed after seeing/interacting with her? it's purely a platonic feeling from cute things, which is a staple in anime, and also not unlike the real world.
(sorry it ended up as a long reply. i was just really confused about your post)
Ahh~ yes my jokes tend to be exaggerated. I was trying to juxtapose the reality of children’s not so cute aspects with what’s shown in this story. Apologies for alarming you.
To me, the tropes are part of the problem. People are having and wanting kids having been unconsciously taught that children are cute sources of unconditional love.
When in reality the relationship needs to be the opposite. ADULTS are supposed to provide unconditional love and support to children.
Real children are inherently selfish and act out on occasion. That’s healthy.
Reading these stories then hearing people say they want to have a baby to love them is troubling.
I’m not saying kids can’t be cute, mature, and unselfish. But more often than not that’s not the reality. And the ones who will suffer the most because of this are real children.
I think I’m losing my ability to suspend my disbelief with child characters in rofan series’. Authors….children do not behave like this. Not even a lot of adults behave like this.
