I'm guessing the reason she left her job was to do with harassment or a relationship scandal and the friend probably made the connection after he said her name and the company. It says in small letters "the Murai harassment case" and I'm betting she was involved somehow.
Um feels like something missing, why was the friend shock when he found out his wife is from that company ? It was ooh that company kind of shock, was the author trying something there
