sometimes when i scroll down to the questions area i see people looking for recs/asking to help find something they forgot the title of, and I can almost always twist the literal story of that manga into fitting the answer perfectly, and its almost never what they actually were asking for. (this is one of the best manga ive ever read, but i think its so funny to answer with it because of how serious and soul crushing the story and symbolism and such is)

youre so right, and the best part is : the whole of this manga is about the effects on the victim(s) and other abuse that forms around it, and dealing with it before, during, and afterwards (including about revenge/forgiveness/denial/nothing is enough) (this shit is UPSETTINGGG and REALISTIC (not realistic visually, but in dialogue, etc.)) like, the WHOLE THING is about trauma, not romance or action or even the revenge aspect of it, its just trauma. someone in the comments said "this gave me second-hand ptsd" AND THAT SHIT IS TRUE

Another example would be if in “Haikyuu!!”, kagehina were canon. It’d just be a side plot of how their relationship advanced, the main plot still being the sports aspect of the manga.
