Ok i usually wouldn’t have a problem w/ red flags (obvi bc im someone who actually LIKED sadistic beauty bl sidestory — call me insane & batshit but beneath the surface that abusive story, it was well-written & thought-out) but for some reason saibara just pissed me off so bad like .. maybe its bc he never learns that what he did was wrong. Like, there’s no attempt at giving saibara more depth by making him contemplate his actions or “regret arc”. He’s just.. perpetual throughout vol 1. Damn. Did not think a mf yaoi would make me cook this hard at 11 pm
Saibara (ML)receipts:
— scarred uke’s face & never apologizes for it (in fact, he’s happy that he scarred his face) even tho it negatively affected uke’s interactions w/ people
— videotaped the uke twice w/o his consent
— blackmailed the uke (threatened that he would spread the vid & poster if the uke didn’t have sex w/ him) & coerced him yet its never brought up again at all bc the uke ~somehow~ catches feelings (which is supposed to remedy that??) can we agree he should have AT LEAST acknowledge it, address it, if not own up to it
— broke into MC’s room
— the double standard is so real bc even tho saibara has broken into the MC’s room before, when the MC trespasses into HIS room ~all of a sudden~ he says its a mf crime & threatens/blackmails the uke to have sex w/ him or else he’ll expose him
— has sex w/ the MC as display in front of tsukasa w/o MC’s consent
Tbh what bothers me abt saibara is that all the shit he does just goes unaddressed by the author which is tbh the least they could do…
The couple chemistry isn’t rlly there & like many ppl have said, feels very forced, like how seme fell for the uke bc of his expressions
Tbh im dropping this in the middle of vol 2 & i read a comment that ~basically~ said tsukasa is worse than saibara & im like… huh
