Transgression VS Regression VS Transmigration VS Reincarnation VS Possession

Can someone explain to me the differences of these tropes? I’ve heard them and know the general concept of them but I still get confused at times.

Im not sure about Transgression but

Regression is when the character turns back time a couple of years. Usually if their life ends in tragedy and they wake up finding themselves to have turned back time to *insert number of years*

Transmigration has to do with a character who gets transmigrated to a different world. They are still within their first body, just to a different world.

Reincarnation is when a character dies and gets reincarnated as another person in the same world or another world. I'm not sure if they gotta start at age 0, because if they die just turn into someone else, it sounds close to possession, only difference is, possession doesn't have to require death.

Possession is like those system host stories where a host helps a character live a happy ending by taking over their body and living for them, is possession. Could be isekai too.

someone already answered, but i'm leaving mine in here too

transgression: characters who wants to break free from society and social norms (in which the book usually features dark themes such as crimes, drugs, etc.) in an unusual or unprecedented way

regression: characers who returns to the past by turning back time

transmigration: characters whose soul moves into another being's body after death (transmigration is slightly similar to reincarnation)

reincarnation: characters who basically start a new life, may it be in a form of another human, animal, or other living being (rebirth, you can describe it as)

possession: taking control of another person's body (as the person above said, like a host system)

Your Transmigration description falls more ender the term Isekai where the MC's actual body gets Transported to a different world.

Regression is Time Rewind, back to the past.

Transmigration is when the MC real body dies and goes to a different body. "The passing of a soul into another body after death."

Reincarnation is the rebirth of a soul in a new body.

Possession is when the character takes over another's body... ie: Body owner dies, the OG soul has left and MC soul takes over, body or soul swaps.. etc.
Often times in Quick Transmigration Systems where the "host" takes over the empty vessel to enact the previous owner's Revenge or Wishes. There are also scenarios where 2 souls are misplaced and they are brought back to their respective body via 3rd party intrusion system. SPOILER lol

Isekai is when the MC gets Transported to a different world, novel, book etc. Sometimes Physically other times through Reincarnation, Transmigration, Possession

Anyways these terms are often associated with each other so it's a bit confusing sometimes. Readers just go with the flow.
