Just read ch 68 and super happy with how things were going between ML and FL until the last page of ch 68 showed Ruka. I literally had to stop reading for 2 minutes to take deep breaths and calm myself so I could continue reading, while bracing myself for whatever Ruka might do.
Finally finished it. Yeah even till the end I hated Ruka. Sure, she's pitiful for having a bad family. But that's all. She's like woe is me. The way she told FL that FL was lucky to have a good life was as if FL was at a fault to not suffer like she did. That was nasty.
As someone who also has horrible parents, maybe not as horrible as Ruka, but still horrible, I can tell you I don't blame anyone for being happy or for not suffering. Plus, I'm also their age so they can't use being young as an excuse.
Finally, I would like to say how surprised I was that I didn't dislike FL's character. Initially, I thought she would be like those girls who think everything's all bright and sunshine, and that she would cry often unreasonably and be all weak and all, always needing protection etc etc. But she surprisingly wasn't. Sure she was weak but she's also kinda strong. Mentally I mean. I also love how she helps people whenever they get injured, even to strangers, even to people she was scared of (Talking about ML's brother, Subaru and Subaru's lil bro) She also apologized to Subaru for reminding him of his trauma and also on behalf of ML. She supported ML's decisions about his future from beginning to end. When ML didn't want to go to uni, FL didn't force ML to go there saying it would be good for his future etc etc. And when ML decided to go uni, one in a different city, FL didn't stop/discourage him despite her loneliness.
Hana is literally an angel. She deserves the world I would say. Best character in the manga. It's not like Hana had an easy life. But her difficulties were downplayed so much because of ML's family situation and even Ruka's family situation. Hana literally had to be like an adult despite being a child. She had to look after a kid even tho she's still in school. And that's not an easy task I tell you. I love that she never felt as though she was an outsider in her family due to her step mom and half brother. I've read novels/mangas where characters tend to feel that way even if that was not what the parents wanted.
Damn I'm only in ch 15 and I already hate Ruka so fucking much.
She's like a "I'm not like other girls". Like the way she thought "See all feminine girls scream when they see a frog" after FL screamed upon seeing a frog. She's like I'm not feminine like her blah blah. Also the way she said "We two are not the same. I'm beaten by my violent father. That's why I get to say Violence is bad" when ML said that Ruka and FL were same as they both told ML violence is bad. Like unless you are abused, you can't say violence is bad ?
She's also so annoying. Sneaky little B. Urgh.
