i wouldnt say defending, because it is true in this case. think of it as someone being born in a cult—its not easy to get out of one purely because of the beliefs that have been ingrained into your mind since birth. i must admit though that the way the the ml was presented in the beginning was misleading, but this 180 change isn't that much surprising. we can only hope the author does justice to the ml as a character and not end up making him 1-dimensional.
It's hilarious how people are so quick to bash Cyric. Of course he's going to believe what he was taught since fucking birth. That's how he was raised and it can't just change in 1 day lol.
He's obviously not gonna take the words of a group of researchers over years of history written even if it IS manipulated. Do you people not learn about real life history in school and how often it can be manipulated without the future generations knowing? It's exactly this scenario.
Plus Cyric is also a knight. Of course he's going murder people that "conspire" against nobility. I'm not defending him but I can see his view point.
