imma drop this due to rape but tbh i'm tired of folks acting like it's the one thing that can't be depicted in fiction and if it IS depicted, then the work's author and readers are immoral and fucked in the head. yall are fine with all typa violence that can happen to a person but are surprised when that also includes rape? "does it really need to have" when does fiction really need to have anything? get off your high horses jfc

i think its cus a lot of people romanticize rape whereas most dont romanticize physical or mental abuse. lots of (yaoi) manga contain rape and not physical violence between the two mcs, which is usually brushed off at the end for a happy ending. and i dont think anyones acting smugly superior for recognizing that… also sexual abuse is somewhat considered worse across the board for victims of both sexual and other abuses (i myself am a victim of sexual and physical assault and id rather be beaten any day than be raped again) but yes again it is fiction and while its totally okay to be uncomfy with consuming media with rape and also okay to criticize the romanticization and or bad depictions and simplification of rape we all need to know how to separate fiction from reality!

And people ignore the fact that loads of people have rape kinks/cnc kinks, that's a FACT you can look up. People romanticize rape in fiction all the time, doesn't mean they support real life rape/want to be raped in real life. The point is that it's fictional, nobody is being hurt, and if it's cnc it's consensual. People get turned on by the thought of being controlled completely by someone else, being at their mercy, it's very common.

That's not what they're complaining about. If stories want to depict rape or abuse, then by all means let them. But to cater to an audience where a lot of them (women) are survivors of these things we don't really wanna see it in such a "omgg kawaii desu ne >.<" way. It's so backhanded

Just don't romanticize it, especially in such a non realistic and fetish-like way and it's fine

imma be frank with you i don't know how yall look at this plot and the atmosphere and think the author will somehow make rape cute and kawaii when it's being treated as a threat by the mc. that's a media literacy issue on your part.
