Hmm it’s been a long while but as far as I can remember when they go into new worlds sometimes they already have pre-established partners but in their hearts they always have each other so they naturally gravitate towards one another. It felt like a soul bond or sth. So I guess no cheating? They only love each other
Originally fu yuan and mc were the og lovers/husbands but mc was kinda ambitious and started practicing magic ( or spells?) that made him unable to feel love so he even divorced fu yuan. I think mc got persecuted by the people of their world so he about to die but the fu yuan took the fatal blow and his spirit shattered into tiny fragments.
But before he disappeared he erased mc’s memories cuz he knew mc would be sad(mc still loved him even if he practiced no-love magic lol). So fast forward later mc wakes up with no memories and meets the system who tells him to collect the villains/fu yuan’s fragments to regain his memories.
In some arc mc started dreaming about fu yuan and realises the truth so he changes from being kinda indifferent to the missions to becoming emotionally invested to save his hubby.
The manhua here skips a lot of arcs and the story in the novel is actually much more heart wrenching than the comedy they portray here. Hope this helps.
