Ppl ain't talking about it because the MCs ain't fucking all the time and it has a plot that actually needs ppl to pay attention instead of just looking at pretty images.
"it's shit" because they can't keep up with a plot that's more than *A wants to date B and maybe C likes one of them* or because there's no constant explicit sex.
I've seen multiple people on this very website give 1/5 star because "it's shounen-ai" "there's no sex" and even (this was so funny) "they only kissed in the last chapter, how's this BL?" on the most tooth rotting romantic GAY BLs just because they were for all ages.
Like, those are the ones that get really popular: stereotypical disgusting seme, lots of abuse, cheap/mediocre plot, or even an interesting plot that's buried by constant smut and is regarded twice every ten chapters.
It will still take a while until the BL fans open up to BLs where sex and romance are not the sole main themes and everything else is secondary or dependant on it.
This is a gay romance being treated like straight romance is in adventure/action/mystery/etc stories and I think this is fucking amazing! Unfortunately, I also don't think people are ready for it, if I'm being honest. This is an amazing story, but non-BL fans will stay away from it because it's BL, while BL fans stay away because it's not BL enough.
Like, this story could still be told without the main couple romance, the only romance needed to the plot is between Eddie and Daniel (
I was a calling it a shitshow in reference to how the former Jungan guy lost his arms in the attack orchestrated by Eddie, had to get unfeeling robot arms to recover, became a hit man, engaged in trauma fueled sexual acts with his protectee, literally killed his protectee with his bare hands after finding out he was the one who killed Jungan (justified), then both fucking and dating his resurrected robot body and creating a toxic codependency with him as they galavant across the world together while the major is still desperately looking for Justice/vengeance/closure against his new psycho bf.

well, that's why their relationship messed up, I rather have two parties where they are toxic toward each other and both are insane than only one being insane and another one having to deal with his shit i.e. (Every BL in existence). but lol yeah I'm sure the major’s reaction wouldn't be great *gulp* especially since I think he had a crush on him in the past.
like I see a lot of people complain about BL not having a plot, but when there is BL with a plot no one notices it. I wish people just turn their horney knob off and enjoy the story and character development for them to be finally a couple. GL has a unique plot where characters get development along their adventure, and straight romance has that, but BL always has to be stuck with the mafia plot where the characters have to fuck every 3 chapters. like seriously how people don't get tired of that? especially with mafia stories.
Can you recommend some good GL? BL definitely has a lot of toxic tropes so you have to filter through them to find the decent stuff, but a lot of GL I’ve tried to read has either been so excruciatingly slow that barely anything happened by 20 chapters in, had absolutely no interesting or enjoyable characters (I get characters will have flaws, but there has to be something compelling about them) , or was just mindless smut catering to straight men.
