I'm confused too but i feel like they are gis siblings from the previous emperor (like the red hair girl) (?) And they are competing for the throne cause the current one does not have any heir from his blood but it's really confusing
Isnt the white haired guy thats following her around the Crown Prince, not the Emperor? I think the Emperor hasnt shown up yet right? I think we've only seen the Empress Dowager, Empress (blonde lady with no face), and some Concubines with their kids
I think the throne is still "open" to be taken away even if there's a Crown Prince (white haired guy that destroyed FL's country), that's how I understood it so far (⊙…⊙ )
They're the Emperor's children that he's,had with his wife + four concubines, and the crown prince (white haired ML) is also the Emperor's child. So the crown prince is all the children's brother (the 'first' prince). The Emperor hasn't been shown yet.

MLs mom, the Empress, wants to make Emperor suffer. She was engaged to someone else before but Emperor did some bad stuff to the guy's fam until she had no choice but to comply. Her lover, after a bit of time, killed himself. She is fueled by so much hate she's abused and raised ML for her revenge. Later on, she considers MC a hindrance as she has such influence over her son as he becomes more stubborn and independent.
I'm so confused....are all these younger kids the emperors children from concubines??? I mean are the the children of that white haired guy that's following the maid around?
