espc as he said that he projects the death of soan on other kids he sees his age
and if he's travelling to these countries i think without her he'd be leaving her for long periods at a time
maybe his focus wouldn't completely be his partner but the activities he does for the children and other people

I think that’s part of it. His dream is very important to him and he wanted to emphasize that to her. But at the same time he really does love her and wants her to know that. There will likely be time for work he will be away for a while but he doesn’t want her to think she’s not important to him too. I think this couple can make it though. Yuki seems very understanding. And the distance could be a good thing. She can figure out her own dreams while he’s chasing his.
Am I missing something? I don’t quite understand why he didn’t feel like he could tell her his backstory up until now. It was being built up like this big obstacle that was going to make their future dreams clash but it was just him telling her his past and that he loved her
