He is mad the way dude comparing him to his ex and think so lowly about him , he is a man with confidence and pride , his confidence is everything for him , the way he hide it for months + comparing him to some losers basically break his confidence and self esteem.

What I said is that he's completely missing the point by choosing to focus on the wrong thing and yelling at him like an asshole. He has every right to be angry about the whole hiding his promotion from him thing, but the reason why Yoichi didn't want to tell him isn't because he thought that he was an insecure prick like his ex it's because he blames himself for the way things turned out back then and he would've known that if he wasn't so focused on Yoichi bringing up his ex and actually listened to him.
