She betrayed him. Bastian stepmother blackmailed her about her family to give important information about bastian's revenge. So the plan failed. But before this, Bastian already fell for her and was planning to propose and make their marriage real after his plan worked. Sadly, it did not happen because of Odette. He doesn't want to divorce Odette, he think that there is no loss for Odette on that regard beacuse after their divorce odette can remarry someone like the count. He's jealous of. He loves and hate her at the same time. That's why he wanted Odette to bear his child, to crash odette beyond repair at the same time keep her. He tell her taht it will be sandrine and his child, but he's actually cutting ties with her. Because despite odette's betrayal, he still loves her. In the novel, you can clearly see how bastian was hurting evertime he do something to Odette. It was wrong I know. It was very dark romance and not for everyone. Odette on the other hand is really good at hurting bastian with his own action, like asking him to pay her everytime they do the deed.

I'm gonna drop this. I LOVE ODETTE DESIGN but I read the novel and I hate sooo much Bastian. To me he's depicable.

I think that even if Odette betrayed Bastian that doesnt mean her punisment is being raped every day, Bastian did it over and over brutally, saying awfull things. Yes, she did sth bad when he admitted feel sth about her, but rape her , it was violen not only that. He wanted to impregnat her and he said that Odette 'll never gonna se their child after divorcing. Their child gonna be Sandrine and Bastian's child. Over and over he abused phisically and emotional telling her she is cheap and she sold hersel so easly. In this kind of plot of course Odette not only acepted the rape, she 'enjoyed' it even if she doesn want it???? She is still in love when Bastian felt nauseous about her. of course, his background is sooooo sad and dramatic that everyone feels sorry for him and plus he wanted commit suicide. I skipped so many chapters, I couldnt stand their dynamic. ' I think is fair. THAT BITCH DESERVED THIS. Whats the problem, he lost money so she has to pay with her body. Oh my poor baby Bastian". Ay, romantic rape isnt my cup of tea and I dont get why is so popular. I love the art but nooo
